Delbert Richardson |
Background:
Delbert was born in
Houston, Texas in 1929 and moved with his family to Angelina County in
1930. He graduated from Central High School in Pollok , Texas in 1946, and
entered the University of Texas, graduating with a degree in Architectural
Engineering in 1951. He returned to Lufkin and entered a partnership with
his father in general contracting and engineering. He married Vernadine in
1953. In 1954 Delbert entered the
U S Army, serving in Special Forces G-2 Intelligence until October 1956.
While in Heidelberg, Delbert and Vernadine worshipped with the Church of
Christ until they and their daughter Joyce returned home to Lufkin.
CAREER:
Delbert was in the Engineering and Construction business from 1957 to 1998.
Since that time he has continued full time work in Engineering and Design
with a home office. He has been involved in various school and civic
organizations, serving as vice president of the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce,
president of the LHS band boosters, President of Angelina County
Genealogy Society. He has also worked with Boy Scouts and with Drug and
Alcohol Rehabilitation programs. He has taught Bible classes throughout his
adult life.
FAMILY:
Delbert and Dine (Vernadine) have two children. Joyce was born in
Germany, studied Art at Stephen F. Austin University, and is married to
Brad Jackson. She and Brad have six children and one grandchild, and they
are active in many programs at Central Church of Christ. Their son Don was
born in Lufkin. He attended Baylor University and graduated with a degree
in English; he then entered the University of Texas Law School and graduated
with a Law Degree. He and his wife Michelle were married in 1999, and he is
now practicing law in Lufkin.

VISION FOR CENTRAL:
To be a body
that believes Jesus is the Son of God, to teach his word and be of service
in our community. Through our activities and missions the church should be
known in the community for its love and service to those around us. |
