WORDS
Abraham Lincoln was once arguing
with a political opponent who constantly twisted the meaning of
words to suit his own fancy and support his case, so Lincoln asked,
"How many legs does a cow have?" His adversary looked puzzled at
such a question, but he responded in a tone of disgust, “Four, of
course. "That's right," agreed Lincoln. "Now suppose you call the
cow's tail a leg; how many legs would the cow have? "Why, five, of
course," was the confidant reply. "Now, that's where you're wrong,"
said Lincoln. "Calling a cow's tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
People often distort truth by playing with words, but according to
the writer of Hebrews, God’s plan to send a Redeemer to earth
was confirmed with a promise and with an oath; the writer states in
Hebrews 6:18 “It is impossible for God to lie.” The Apostle
John calls Jesus “GOD’S WORD” in John 1:1 In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He
wraps up the thought in John 1:14: The Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of
the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Question what men may say, but always trust the Truth of God!
Grace and Peace,
