This Sunday is Easter! The celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to lead us into victory over death and eternal life with our Heavenly Father. It’s a wonderful and magnificent story! One that has been told millions of times and will be told countless more time into eternity. A story we can hold onto and find hope and peace from.
Look at Luke 24; when the women go to Jesus’ tomb in order to prepare his body with spices they find the tomb empty and the body is gone. Their immediate reaction is confusion and maybe even grief as they attempt to deal with the emotions raging inside over the last week. This feeling is compounded when angels show up and terrify the women. But the angles are surprised themselves: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!” They continue with the simple word “remember”. While Jesus was with His disciples He made it very clear what would need to happen. He prepared them for this. They should be joyful in expectation that what Jesus promised would happen came to pass. We have this same joy today! God has made us countless promises that He will fulfill. We may not understand our current situation but remember, “in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
