I was reading Psalm 72 a few weeks ago and read it in a new way than I had before. This was David’s prayer for his son Solomon. Check it out, it’s a powerful prayer. David raises up Solomon as the future king over Israel that God will use to bring justice, righteousness, peace, and prosperity. The King God will use to unify the people of Israel, to establish relationships with vast nations and powerful kings. To establish Israel as the great and powerful nation of God; His chosen and blessed people. Solomon had an overwhelming and vast future full of expectation ahead of him and David saturated his rule in prayer.
This makes sense to me. Of course Solomon needed all the prayer he could get, he was destined for greatness. But I desire God to use my future children in the same way. And I have confidence He will. I don’t know what it will look like but I believe God will change the world through my direct descendants. And so I pray for them every night. I don’t know their names yet but I know their identity in Christ. This brings me to Ephesians 6:4. “Bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord”. Saturate your children in prayer, set the example of placing Christ at the center of your priorities. God is going to use them in INCREDIBLE ways!
